Backup is the key feature when it comes to securing your business, not only in financial and administrative but also in technical aspects. An infrastructure with good design, resilient, secure and highly available is a must. Especially now, when many people started to work remotely and often choose to shop online or order many services via the Internet. Cloud computing helps to provide the best solutions and secure and meet all the requirements of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery processes. A backup policy in the moment of a sudden failure and data loss is a must. This helps not only in quicker restoring the lost data to the state before the failure but also gives you a calm mind that when the system goofs up.

Here are some reasons why having a backup is a key value.

1. It’s always better to be safe than sorry. Most of the data that we process are now in digitalized form and collected in big databases. So having a backup is essential to keep them safe and in case of any failure, they can be quickly restored.

2. During the pandemic, we have learned that many of available solutions can actually have a bad day too. Not only mentioning some of the loudest data breaches od 21st century, but it happens every day to many smaller businesses that are not properly prepared for not only increase in traffic but also their security policy is not correctly implemented.

3. When we mentioned reliability, we also need to mention the large projects that are in the stage of testing. Recall when you use a popular text editor and it suddenly freezes and the window closes automatically with notification of failure. Then the heart stops, I know that can be scarier than a horror. The thought of reproducing all the lines and all the information freaks everyone who lost their data. Backup surely will help in this.

4. As the golden rule says time is money. And we don’t want to spend money once again for something that has been done earlier. Let’s think about the configuration of hardware, once done in case of a sudden power cut can give us irritation that we need to do it one more time. The rule applies to the access and passwords for accounts, emails or disks. This is necessary in case of human error, which also comes along with new employees in many organizations.

Let’s consider the benefits of cloud-based backup. Firstly, there’s no need for maintaining special onsite hardware, which in turn generates more costs. It’s really important mainly for the outgrowing companies that process large amounts of data. Secondly, the cloud gives you flexibility in adding needed storage space, which arises from the previous point. Thirdly, the backup can proceed from any place in the world. Having the needed tools makes the process easier. And lastly, data can be backed up in the time intervals.

Let me introduce you to the simplest solutions to all your doubts when it comes to backup and it’s AWS Backup. It’s simple as that. The service is fully automated, ensuring the highest level of security. It saves you time and thanks to Backup On Demand and Recovery Points you can easily restore your backup whenever you want. Recovery Points represent the content of a resource at a given time. They also contain metadata, such as asset information, restore parameters, and tags. There’s also Backup Vault, which is a logical backup container for recovery points that allows them to be organized. AWS Backup with just a few clicks in AWS console lets you build backup policies, automate the schedule of creating backups and manage their place of storage. A step by step instruction on how to create a backup plan was written down in Jeff Barr’s blog post.

The are plenty of advantage of implementing AWS Backup. I’ll try to mention a few key ones. Firstly, it helps in cost optimization thanks to the pay-as-you-go plan. We pay only for the number of gigabytes actually used (giga-hours or giga-months). It helps with backup policies and gives you free mind from worries about loosing your or your clients' data. Meanwhile, you can work on other key features of your infrastructure. AWS Backup saves time, both for avoiding the unnecessary configuration and for your customers during an unexpected power cut and malfunction. And when you implement the service you will see much more pros of having AWS Backup as your backup. :)
